MANILA IN 2054.

What do you see? A hot, humid metropolis. The population of the Philippines has grown to 162 million, making it the 12th largest population globally. While GDP per capita has risen to approximately $30,000 today, in 2054 (an estimated $20,000 in 2024 dollars considering inflation), it remains below the global average. This is a significant improvement from 2024, when GDP per capita was about $3,500, ranking 114th out of 179 countries. The increase in GDP per capita reflects a more developed society and improved average wealth, although the poorest sectors still face considerable challenges.

The mega subway system is a key achievement, significantly reducing traffic congestion and urban pollution compared to 2023 levels. The electrification of public utility vehicles and the widespread availability of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations have also contributed to a cleaner urban environment. Despite the increase in urban heat island effects due to more skyscrapers and higher than average global temperatures, the improvement in public transit has mitigated the expected rise in photochemical smog levels.

The country's development is marked by numerous infrastructure, education, scientific, manufacturing, and agricultural projects across its Northern and Southern provinces. These have generated employment and stimulated economic growth, leading to broader regional development and wealth distribution.
